The short version
The text you type or paste into our tools is processed in your browser. It is not sent to our servers, it is not stored by us and it is never included in analytics. The sections below explain the few things that are collected.
Your text
All tools on TextJanitor run on your device. Nothing you enter is uploaded, logged or kept on a server. If you close the page, the text is gone unless you chose to keep it on your own device, as described next.
What is kept in your browser
Some small items are stored in your own browser using local storage. They stay on your device and are never transmitted to us:
- your theme choice (system, light or dark);
- the tools you used recently, so we can show them on the home page;
- your text, only if you turn on "Remember my text on this device" for a tool. Clearing the text or turning the option off removes it.
Server logs
Like most websites, our server records basic technical information about each request, such as the IP address, the time, the page requested and the browser type. We use it to keep the site running and secure. Logs are kept for 14 days and then deleted. Request bodies are never logged.
Contact form
If you use the contact form, we store your email address, your optional name and your message so we can reply. We also keep a hashed (irreversible) version of your IP address to limit spam. Messages are deleted after 365 days. We use them only to answer you and improve the site, and we do not share them.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools are used. It records events such as which tool was opened or whether the copy button was used. It never receives the text you enter. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies, subject to the consent choices described below. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising with Google AdSense
We show ads provided by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads and to measure them. This can include personalized ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Where the law requires it, personalization and cookies depend on your consent.
You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services on Google's privacy and terms page, and you can manage or turn off personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings. You can also use the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out or, in Europe, Your Online Choices.
Consent in the EU, UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message from Google asks whether you allow cookies for ads and analytics. Until you choose, advertising and analytics storage stay switched off. You can change your choice at any time with the "Privacy settings" link in the footer of any page.
Children
TextJanitor is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because we keep very little, this mostly concerns contact messages. To make a request, write to us through the contact page or at .
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the site changes, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. Questions about privacy can be sent through the contact page or by email to .
